Spring is sprung and weeding has begun! As I look out my office window onto my little garden I get really discouraged. I see grass growing where I would like to plant flowers, mint growing wherever it wants to grow, and strawberries that have gotten out of control. These plants are great to have individually but when they decide to take over we have a tangled mess. Nothing else can grow with them, and they choke out the other plants.
God is the gardener in our lives and He sees our garden of sin. These sins choke us off from the blessings He has to offer and the work He has for us to do. But how does He weed our garden to bring out the most beautiful plants? God gently brings to our attention the problems that are in our lives. Our hearts are pricked and our consciences awakened to the constant presence of the Holy Spirit weeding out the unwanted "weeds" of sin. He replaces the heart of stone and indifference to one of loving Him, and caring for His ways.
I am not looking forward to the weeding in my garden but I know that when I am done it will look nice and neat so I can plant those vegetables and flowers I so love. There will be a lot of work and sore muscles but the results will be worth it. I know God loves me so much that He will never stop "weeding" me, even though at times it will hurt and we may not understand why. Let us forever look to our Heavenly Father to plant in us the spiritual truths, so we may bear fruits that will make us part of His beautiful garden.

Hi Anita, I love (and hate) this analogy! It goes along with that old saying, no pain, no gain. And yet spiritually speaking, it is a privilege to be "weeded" by the gentle hand of God.Blessings to you! TeresaRespond to this comment
