The Word "I"
by

I….what a self centered word! Have you ever stopped to think that when you use this word it is for selfish purposes? It just came to me the other day how selfish this little word is and yet it is used so much of the time.
I want to write about it, and what do I use but the word it self. When I write who is it for? Is it for Jesus or the glorification of myself? You see what I mean! Can we do anything without using and thinking about ourselves first?
When I want to do anything for Jesus I must pray and ask for the Holy Spirit to fill me first, to so overpower me that the I in anything that I do is for Him only and not for myself.
The scripture of Galatians 2: 20 comes to mind: “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.”
Looking at so many scriptures when God uses the word I, we can see that only He has the right to use this powerful little word. It is He that has the power and authority to be the I in everything that we do. Romans 9: 17 says: “for this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” How can (myself) ever use this word in all honesty and without pride (which God hates) to say that I have done anything without the permission of our Holy God?
My prayer is that when I use this word that it will be in humility and purpose to glorify our Heavenly Father and Son Jesus Christ. When talking with others this word would be used only to reflect what God has done and Christ’s sacrifice. May we all who love our Savior reflect the kindness, forgiveness and love He lavishes on us and show this to others as we witness His greatness.
