A few weeks back I was feeling overwhelmed by all the uncertainties this season of my life has to offer. I knew I had to “take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ” to avoid a downhill crash. Once I made this conscious decision to focus on the positive things as Philippians 4:8 instructs, several passages of Scripture came to mind and before I realized it, my heart was happy and all the fear was gone.
Some of the Scriptures that came to mind are as follows – I pray they will be a source of encouragement to you – perhaps you can start a list of your own. Believe them, receive them, they are true for all who are in Christ Jesus.
“Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. Psalm 103:1-5
“I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps, He has put a new song in my mouth – Praise to our God; many will see it and fear, and will trust in the LORD. Psalm 40: 1-3
“He has made everything beautiful in its time…” Ecclesiastes 3:11
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." Romans 8:18
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ…” Philippians 1:6
“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:6
What a gift we have from God that He gives us His word – without it tucked away in our hearts, it will not be there when we need it.
Father, help us to be in your word at all times; as the Psalmist said, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Yet the other side of this is that having Your word hidden in our hearts will allow us to focus on the good things and find the grace we need to help in time of need.
Thank You for these few passages of Scripture that tell me You have everything under control and that my focus needs to be on serving you and listening for Your still small voice to speak to my heart. In the name of Your most precious Son, my Savior, Jesus, Amen.

Hi Teresa,Great scripture and right on time for me. I will hold on to them as it seems as though this past year has been a living hell. I am even thinking and it has been suggested that I talk to my doctor about clinical depression. I am fighting the thought however because I truly believe the Lord is bigger than all this.Love, hugs and blessings,MichelleRespond to this comment

Hi Michelle, I am so glad these are an encouragement to you. It has been a tougher than norm for you. You are right, God is bigger than what you are going through, and that includes being big enough to provide doctors who can help. It may be a good Christian counselor who is also license in clinical depression and can help diagnose chemical make-ups in your body to offer the correct amount of medication if necessary. It may be that you only need something of low dose to help get your body and emotional frame of mind back on track.
This happened to my sister after her divorce and years of one hardship after another. She felt she was not trusting God if she received medical assistance, but she went to a doctor who is a believer and she explained the physical and chemical changes that happen in our bodies when an unusual amount of pressures come our way and how our bodies can shut down, no matter how strong our faith is. She prescribed her a low dose medication of anti-depressants that were timed sensitive and weaned her off of them in a period of 6 months. Within that six months, with her chemical make-up being temporarily manipulated, she was able to relax, regroup and once again take hold and control of her emotions. All of this of course, while seeking the biblical counsel and Christian fellowship she needed.
She is doing great now. I will be praying for wisdom for you and the peace to understand if this is an avenue God would have you take. I love you much!! I am off to church, I will lift my hands high and remember you specifically when we pray for our brothers and sisters across the land.

Hello Anon,
I am so glad you found your way to our site. God is good - yes, I would say the devil is keeping you from the most important asset a Christian has.
If these articles are a blessing to you and a good place to receive teaching and blessing, please continue to come and join in conversation, ask questions, and fellowship with other Christians.
Maybe you could use one of the articles as a starter for reading your Bible - for Instance, use your Bible when reading and turn the the place in your Bible that the article refers to. Then continue reading down for a chapter or two. Reading the Bible can be overwhelming, but if we take it is small steps it does fill our spirit and then leaves us hungry for more.
Lord bless you and thank you for sharing your heart. Please come back again and again :-)
I am praying for you! Blessings in the name of Jesus, T

Hell Dreama.
Praise the Lord that you were comforted with these words from our Lord. I am praying for you. Stay close to Him.
As others Scriptures promise, He is always with us, we need only stay connected through fellowship with other believers, through the study of His word, and through prayer. God bless you!
Teresa
