Be Steadfast In the Lord I Corinthians 15:58 Kjv

by Cheery Blossom(25)

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

When we see a “therefore” in the Bible, it is always good to find out what it is there for! In this case, it follows a long dissertation on the resurrection of Christ, and what it should mean to every one of us. After all Christ has done for us, if we are true believers, this should have a great effect on our lives, so the Apostle Paul is saying that in view of all that has been done for us, the natural outpouring of our love should lead us to be as the above verse states.

Be steadfast, be confident in our faith, fixed in our faith, be firm in our belief of all the promises that our God has given to us.

Be unmovable, never allow anything to shake us in our hope in Christ, regardless of what life hands us. We need to keep our eyes on the goal, which is eternity with Christ. A farmer must fix his eyes on a certain landmark, when he first begins to plow a field. If he loses sight of his goal, the result will be a very crooked furrow. So it is, when we follow Christ. No matter what happens in our lives, we cannot allow this to take our eyes off of our goal. We must trust that everything is in His control. He is our living example

We are always to be abounding in the work of the Lord. I believe, the word abounding, is not the run of the mill attitude of many who feel that teaching S.S., attending services, reading Gods Word, and prayer is sufficient. These things give the Christian a good groundwork for abounding. I believe that abounding, is living so close to Christ that we are alert to many little acts of service that might inconvenience us, and are perhaps above the norm, such as helping someone in the store who is struggling with something on the shelf, the lost, crying child, the person in a wheel chair trying to open a door. It is patience with a waitress, sharing with those in need, a smile for someone who is downcast. The list could go on and on, but if we truly love, these acts of service will not be hard for us to perform, and Jesus said, “Even as ye have done it unto the least of these, my brethren, ye have done it unto me. We are responsible to share our faith with others, and not go “home” empty handed!

You know, by experiencing salvation, to what extent Christ will go to lead us through our life.

Your labour is not in vain in the Lord. The fruit of the Spirit is yours to reach out and take. Galatians 5:22 lists the fruit that God has prepared for us through His Spirit. This fruit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. In verse 25, we are told that we live by the Spirit.

The Spirit gives each of his children one or more gifts to help us keep our eyes on the goal. I Corinthians 12:7-10, lists these for us. They are wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy discerning of the spirits, tongues, interpretation.

Being in the Lord, should lead to happiness, a clean conscience, and eternal rewards as He leads us. Self-denial comes into play, We seek His will and not our own and are assured by His Spirit’s presence in our lives, that His promises are true, and the more we dig into the Word, the more gems are found to encourage, give strength, and to make us alert. Let us, each one; be steadfast, unmovable, and abounding in God’s work.

Dear Lord, I want to be used by You

In an abundant way.

So, I’ll trust You, as you lead me on.

Verna, thank you for this gentle, yet strong admonishment. It is way to easy to be complacent in our walk with God. I appreciate this word. Thank you and preach on sister :-) Teresa
