A Balanced Life

by Cheery Blossom(27)

Lord, may I live a balanced life.

May I let go, and let you guide;

Allowing you to chart my course,

Remembering you’re at my side.

Help me make time for those in need,

Yet, finding time to get rest;

Spending time in Your Holy Word,

In communion with You, I am blest.

Just this last week, I was reminded of a balance in all things. I have a plum tree that is so loaded with plums that we had to prop up the limbs so that they would not break. I thought that it surely needed a lot of water, so I spent extra time (that I could well have used for something more profitable) in carefully watering the tree. Well, the plums began to rot on the tree before they were even ripe. I could not figure out why, so I went on ask.com, and discovered that too much water will ruin plums. It would have been so much better to ask if they needed extra water, instead of wasting my time watering them. Then, I have been thinking how much time we often waste, which simply messes up our lives, and robs us of our peace.

The scriptures tell us in Exodus 35:2, we are to only labor six days, and rest the 7 th .

We are also told, we need to bow down and worship our maker . Psalms 95:6

We must make time for friends. Proverbs 18; 24 states-A man that hath friends, must show himself friendly, and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. KJV

Sometimes we yearn to do great things for God, but there are times He has different plans. The man from whom Jesus cast the Legion of demons wanted to immediately go with Christ, and Jesus told him in Mark 5:19, that he wanted to go home and tell how Jesus had removed the demons, and how much compassion Jesus had. He was to be better used in that capacity, than to become one of the inner circle.

We must spend time in the word and in prayer to know God’s will for us. One thing in His Word is so important. In Ephesians 4: verse 14, He tells us to be sure of what we believe, and not be tossed about with every wind of doctrine. The only way we can accomplish this is to base all our beliefs on His Word. We need to be balanced in our belief, in our time, and, in our emotions, to truly please God.

Yours for a balanced life! Verna Mull

Very timely, I have things backwards and have been putting out "fires" all day long - now it is time to spend some quality time with Him! Love you lady (guess what I was doing? watering trees - but they don't have plums....)Marijo
