Uncharted Territory - Poem Written For a Friend Newly Diagnosed With Cancer

by Anne Linington(187) Red Star
http://Faithwriters.com

This poem was written on hearing from a friend newly-diagnosed with cancer:

Uncharted Territory

This new voyage on which you have begun

Is taking you into, as yet, uncharted territory.

It is a journey not ’cross distant seas,

Nor to foreign lands, but to deep within your self.

It is a time, during which you will discover hidden depths,

And strength you could never believe you possessed

On it you will make new friendships and deepen old.

You will discover new loves, new joys and new life

Things you may once have taken for granted

Will become so very precious

Like jewels mined from deep within earth’s darkness.

Supported by loved ones near and far

You are strong enough for this your own odyssey

So go with fortitude to reach your appointed destination

that is you.

Isaiah 45:3 " I have given you the treasures of darkness, riches hidden in secret places; so that you will know that it is I the Lord, the God of Israel who calls you by your name "

HI Anne, another encuraging poem. I wonder if you added in the title (A poem about a diagnosis of cancer) or something to this effect. I do believe it would get a wider search audience and perhaps bring many who are searching for comfort at a time like this to your piece. Just a thought :-) Teresa
