Make My Life a Clear Roadsign

by Cheery Blossom(25)

I Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Psalms 107: 1 O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.  V.2 Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy:

Is my life like a beautiful road sign,

With the directions all weathered away?

Do I live a “Bible –Description” life,

Yet, never, ever, tell others the Way?

Have I missed the last, great command Christ gave,

When He went to sit at His Father’s side?

Yes, He left me instructions how to live;

But, I am to tell others why He died!

Do I live my life, cleansed by Jesus’ blood?

(Yes, I’m glad He’s making a Home for me ;)

But, do I ever show the Roadmap to others,

The Roadmap, that sets my sinful life free?

So many of my life experiences

Seem to emerge freely from my own tongue?

Yet, so often I will neglect to tell

The way all of my battles have been won.

Lord, you’ve given your children, an answer

For the hope that lies in our own breast.

It’s good to live my life by the Bible;

But Lord, open my mouth to tell the rest!

When I read my devotions this morning there was a thought that pierced my heart.  The writer, Henry G. Bosch, spoke of “Dummy Christians.”  This caused me to examine my own heart.  In looking within I discovered that many times, this was a description of me!

We so freely take of God’s blessings, live our lives to show forth His love, and never open our mouths to tell others why are lives are different.

If it were not for Jesus, my life would never be as it is today.  Today, I do seek His will, and in my poor, human way, I want to be an example to others in the way that He helps me live.

I find myself guilty many times, when someone compliments how I handled a situation.  I seem to fail to explain the Center of my life.  I have many times lost the opportunity to ask them if they know my Jesus.  I fail to show them the Answer to life in God’s Word.

The above poem is an expression to God, of my repentant heart.

If anyone reading this, is someone that I have neglected to tell.  Carefully check these Scripture verses below.  Herein you will find the beginning of the answers to life.

John 3:16  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

I John 1:9 If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sin and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.

II Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away, behold all things are become new.

II Timothy 2:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

John 8: 31&32 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on Him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

All scripture displayed here is from the King James Version of God’s Holy Word.  Live by the Word and you will be blessed.

Beautiful! "Always be ready to give an answer for the hope that is in you...." Mostly we need to be more bold and I do hear you, Verna. Those we see all the time without seeing - the clerks, waitresses, bus drivers etc. Our family might be the hardest... Marijo
