We pray today for all who lead in our society
We pray for those who lead in our churches:
We remember all of those that have lead in the past
We thank you for those who lead us in the present
We pray for those who will lead us in the future
We pray particularly for those preparing for retirement from their present role, who look forward to new ways of serving you.
We pray for Churches in the process of changing leaders and for those who will succeed in these positions, that you will guide them and us to know your will for the future.
We thank you for all those who have served you with vision
Who have guided through the challenge of change
And those who have encouraged your people to use their gifts
We pray for those who lead our country
Heavenly Father we pray for all our National leaders especially those in Government.
We pray for a new sense of accountability, and a rebuilding of trust in those elected to represent us.
We ask that you will call those with Christian principles to represent us locally, nationally and internationally.
We pray for those who perhaps feel “tarred by the same brush” when they have done nothing wrong.
We ask forgiveness when we condemn others for sins we might so easily commit ourselves given the opportunity.
We pray for those who lead in our schools
We thank you for all those who led us by their good example, who spotted a talent or offered encouragement which gave us direction.
We pray for all called to this difficult job of education, in our schools, colleges and universities.
We ask particularly at the end of the school year that you will strengthen those who are tired and help them with all the extra work at the end of term.
We pray for those who lead by word and example at home
Lord we ask for those raising children and teenagers that you will give them wisdom to bring them up with Christian values as a foundation for future living and decisions.
We pray particularly for those seeking to give what they never experienced in their own homes.
We ask for healing for those damaged by inadequate parenting.
Thank-you that we can turn to you our perfect Heavenly Father for strength, wisdom and unconditional love.
We pray for those in leadership in business
We particularly ask for those running businesses in this recession, where difficult decisions have to be made to safeguard the future.
We pray for more help from the Banks and Government for those companies in crisis.
We pray for those in leadership in the nations of the world
We pray especially for the countries of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq and for those seeking to bring peace and stability. We pray for the young servicemen and women who have given their lives in these conflicts.
We pray for hostages and families of those still missing, and for families given the news they feared most. We pray that they will know your presence during this desperate time.
A final prayer:
You who are over us
You who are one of us
You who are-
Also within us
May all see you- in me also
May I prepare the way for you
May I thank you for all that shall fall to my lot
May I also not forget the needs of others...
Give me a pure heart- that I may see you
A heart of love- that I may serve you
A heart of faith- that I may abide in you
