Jesus light of the World
Shine in me
We thank you that you came for God's chosen people Israel, but also to be a light to the Gentiles.
We ask your blessing on the people of Israel, and its neighbouring countries:
We pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and especially for justice for the Palestinians in Gaza.
Jesus light of the world,
Shine in me
Today we ask you to shine into the dark places of this world, where there is war, famine, injustice.
We pray for Pakistan... Kenya... for your Church in these places and for just government.
Jesus light of the world,
Shine in me
We ask Lord that your light will shine into the dark places of our land:
In our cities and towns,
workplaces and homes;
into the dark places of our own hearts and lives.
Jesus, light of the world,
shine in me
We pray that in our world we may shine with your light, brightening, revealing, welcoming all we meet.
Jesus, light of the world,
shine in me
We thank you for Simeon and Anna, and their faithful service and witness, for their patient waiting for Christ to be revealed. Help us to serve you faithfully and patiently, watching for you to be revealed in our own lives.
Jesus, light of the world,
shine in me
We give you thanks for those whose faith has set us an example of devotion and service.
We pray for all those known to us who are elderly, widowed or living alone.
Help us to be aware of their changing needs and our responsibility towards them.
May they increasingly know your presence and peace.
We pray for those who are unwell: for those recovering from, or awaiting operations;
Jesus, light of the world
shine in me
As we grow older, may we increasingly wait for the revelation of God's Son, Jesus Christ, and that day when darkness itself will cease to exist.
May we know your reassuring presence beside us, even as we walk through the deepest valley.....
And give to us the certain hope of dwelling in the house of the Lord forever, where Christ himself has prepared our dwelling place.
Jesus, light of the world
shine in me
Light a light
Light a light that shines within me
Deep within my soul
Kindle a fire, burn inside me
Cleanse and make me whole
May I shine and beam a light of
Your unceasing love
Poured within this heart of mine by ~
My Father in Heav’n above
Purge my soul of wayward sin Lord
Purify the dross
So that I may come before you
Kneeling at the cross
Take me out into the world to
Radiate God’s light
That men may be drawn towards my
Flick’ring in the night
When my earthly witness ends Lord
Let my soul take wings
Fly to my eternal home where
Light unending reigns
