Intercessions Using the Fingers of Our Hand

by Anne Linington(187) Red Star
http://Faithwriters.com

Today we are going to use our hands, our fingers and thumbs as a focus for our intercessions.

Our forefingers- for those who point the way.

We pray for all who teach and educate, in our schools, colleges and universities.

We pray for strength as they come towards the end of the school year with all its busyness

For reports, for activities and preparation for the next academic year.

We pray for those who educate within our Prison Systems, and pray that qualifications and interests will raise self-esteem and diminish re-offending.

We pray for those who teach in our Churches, those with responsibility for the young and teenagers; those who preach; guide as they prepare and as they study.

Our Middle Fingers

We pray for those who lead, those who govern locally and nationally.

We ask that these elected representatives may lead wisely, with a sense of service, and for the good of all.

We pray for our international leaders, and particularly the United Nations.

We ask specially for those areas of our world where there is war, including Afghanistan, Iraq and the situation in Israel and Palestine.

We pray for those who lead your Church; and their role in Church and State.

Our Ring Finger/ Third Finger

We pray for those we love, our families and friends, and ask that we may make time for one another

  - appreciating our individuality, our uniqueness as God's precious children with our various talents and gifts to be used for Him. Let us celebrate our diversity, and encourage each other.

Help us to remember to use the opportunities we have to tell others that we love and value them.

Our Little Fingers

Lord we pray for those in our families, our churches and our society who feel small and insignificant. We ask for those who are marginalised, by age or sex, health or wealth, colour or race.

May we each work towards a society and a world, where the strongest take responsibility for the weakest, the richest for the poorest.

Our Thumbs

We thank you for the gift of thumbs which distinguishes us from the rest of creation.

Thank-you for the ability to work, use tools, to operate machinery, to write, to draw and paint, to play an instrument.

For all that we are able to do with our hands, in work and recreation, we praise you.

The Palm of our hands

Thank-you Father you have engraved our names on the very palms of your hand, so that you cannot forget us .

Thank-you Jesus that your hands were pierced for us, so that we might have peace with God.

Thank-you that you used your hands to care for people, you

- fed the hungry

- healed the sick

- blessed the children

May we follow your example in using our hands to care ..to feed..to heal..to bless.

Silence

Let us be quiet for a few moments and ask God to show us what He has placed in our hands...

Amen and Amen. Anne, I can see I have a lot of praying to catch up on! Thank you for sharing your heart and offering prayers that others can make their own and add to. Many people just don't know where to start. Praise the Lord for your faithfulness, may these intercessions spur the hearts of all believers who read. Many blessings to you! Teresa
