The Way Up Is Down

Mark 9:35 KJV Yea, if any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all. Also, read Mark 10:42-45
But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. 43. But so shall it not be among you; but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister; 44And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. 45. For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
For further reading, read ,Isa. 53:10, Matt. 26:28, and John 11:51 These verses tell us much about Jesus, who is our example.
This past year, in my fruit orchard, there were several trees that were so full of fruit that the branches hung very low on the tree. In fact, these branches totally spoiled the appearance of the tree. They no longer stood as perfectly pruned trees, but were so full of fruit that the looks didn’t matter to me, as my mouth watered for the beautiful fresh fruit that would soon come to maturity. I’m sure that God looks at us in the same way. We may not stand straight and tall, showing off our fruit, but if we humbly bear fruit for Him, those hanging branches will be the most profitable.
In a field of golden grain, it is the stalk of grain that is hanging the lowest, that has the heaviest grain. The one that stands tall, has very little to show for the season of growth.
The above scripture really came to life when I considered my fruit trees. Yes, the way up is down. Jesus wants us to be humble. We are to do His work and leave the results up to Him. He is the beautiful example of true humility and sacrifice.
Lord, help me to take the lowly path that You walked, do my best, and leave the results up to You. Amen
To serve our Risen Savior
The Way up, is Down
We need to face each day
With a smile, not a frown.
If we must take the back seat
That really is okay.
As long as we trust Jesus,
He leads the way.
