How many times have we turned on our T.V., just in time for this announcement? I want you to know that the “Breaking News” of all time, was when Jesus rose from the grave and prepared the way for us to have direct access to His Father.
Jesus set the pattern for prayer, and promised to send the Holy Spirit for all of us, to comfort, indwell, keep us, and to make our petitions clear to God, with groanings that cannot be uttered!. Read Romans 8:26 KJV Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities; for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered.
We have a great gift in prayer contact with God Himself, and His promise to answer our prayers.
We should realize that there are some conditions that we must meet. First, Christ must be our Savior; we must not allow sin to dwell within us. We must confess our sins to be forgiven. We must humble ourselves and turn from our sins. II Chron. 7:14 KJV
I am sure that those of us who are Christians are very much aware of the great power there is in prayer.
The story is told by, and, of Col. Archibald Gracie, a survivor from the sinking of the great Titanic. He actually went down with the ship, and fought the suction of the water. He was able to make it to the surface, and to get a grasp on an overturned life boat, where he held on for several hours with a few others, until a ship could rescue them.
He was a well-known business man and writer.
Col. Gracie completed all but 1 chapter of a book of the whole situation, before he died. He cites the prayers that he had prayed as he was trying to get to the surface, with little hope of completing that task.
In the meantime, in New York, his wife was awakened and could not go back to sleep. This was very unusual for her, but it seemed she was being moved to her knees, and slid out of bed on her knees to pray for her husband and the other passengers aboard the Titanic. She spent several hours on her knees until a great peace came upon her and she went back to bed and to sleep. The next morning she learned of the fate of the Titanic. When her husband and she compared notes, it was during the exact hours that the Titanic had gone down, and her husband and some others were struggling for survival, thatshe had been drawn to prayer. The peace that she had felt was at the precise moment that her husband was rescued.
Many of our prayers are divine appointments, and must not be shoved aside.
We need to praise our God and Savior, Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit for the privileges that are ours in Him!
Yes, this gift of prayer is “Breaking News” for an undeserving people!
Prayer is a gift we can’t take lightly.
All that is asked of a heart made clean.
Humbly exert the faith that lies within,
And God will move upon the scene!

Verna - this a wonderful - I think it might be the very best I have read of yours! Wow. Keep writing, Ladu! I spent all day going over old notebooks and writing (while making meatballs, doing laundry and dishes and cleaning up after cats....) MarijoRespond to this comment
