“A new commandment I give you: Love one another as I have loved you”
Lord Jesus we ask that the new mandate of love, patterned on your own love, will be seen among your people the Church. We pray this for our church locally and nationally.
We pray for love between the various denominations, tolerance regarding difference, and celebration for all that unites us in you.
Forgive us Lord where we have failed you in this over the centuries of Church History.
We pray that a new counter-culture of loving service may be seen by the world and draw people to follow you.
“Watch and Pray that you do not fall into temptation”
We pray for all the temptations this world presents, and the challenge to remain close to God in a world of individualism and self-interest.
Help us to pray for those who suffer, particularly through injustice.
We ask that political leaders, local, national and international may be men and women of integrity living lives of service through Government.
We specially pray for countries in the process of elections, for those where territory is disputed, and for nations with a poor human rights record
“Today you will be with me in Paradise”
We pray for all those who have died in the certainty of being with Christ for eternity.
Comfort all who mourn their loss ..
strengthen them as they adjust to a different life..
giving thanks for all that was shared ..
and for love that never ends.
Where there is desolation we ask that you bring hope.
“My God, my God why have you forsaken me?”
We pray for all those who have been forsaken in some way, particularly by those who should care most.
We ask that they will know the comfort of Christ, and the knowledge that He understands, sympathises and is able to provide needed strength.
We pray for places and organizations who minister to people broken by relationships, experience and the challenges of life. We ask that you will provide all that they need to continue this valuable work in our locality and beyond.
“Peace be with you..”
Lord we ask that wherever your disciples are in fear, that you will speak your word of Peace...
Where we are afraid to be seen as ourselves.. grant us freedom to let walls come down, and know the presence of Christ among us.
“Do you love me?..”
Lord we pray that, despite all our known short-comings and failures..
especially when we are under pressure...
that we may know deep within that we do love you..
that more than anything we want to follow you..
and that with your help we will fulfill the calling you have for each of us.
“Go therefore and make disciples..”
We ask Lord for your help in fulfilling this great commission to make disciples of the whole world.
We thank you for the first apostles and for all subsequent missionaries and evangelists, including those who spread the gospel through our own land.
We thank you that in our day your word can be spread through radio, television and the internet.
We pray for all evangelism and mission activity; Help us to realise that we should never do on our own what we can better do together
Easter Blessing
