Quiet Time

by Cheery Blossom(25)

I think that all of us, as mothers and fathers have a good handle on a quiet time for our children. They seem to really need a time to just sit and be quiet and calm. If they do not have the quiet time, they become so rowdy, and are soon into things that they know better than to do. I’m wondering if we adults are not the same. Our quiet times should be spent, quietly talking to our Heavenly Father.

I’m sure that most Christians do spend time talking with our Father, but do we spend quiet time?

Matthew 6:6 states- But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou has shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret, and thy father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. KJV

What door do we need to shut? Anxiety, decisions, frustrations, worry? We need to cast our care upon Him, for He cares for us.

It’s easy to pray when we have a weight upon our heart, but do we spend time in silent contemplation, and listening for the still, small, voice of God to speak to us, even when there is not a special need?

We need to shut the door to distractions of life and pour out our hearts before the Father’s Throne, spend some time in the Word, and allow Him to speak to us. The Quiet Room” is the” Power Room.” I fear that we are too much like children, if we don’t learn to be still and know that He is God, we start going our own way. We are so prone to wander. We need to find more time to spend in the silence of a closed room where we can be alone with God!

Lord, please forgive my busyness,

My quickly recited prayers to You.

Help me to quietly seek your face

So You can reveal Your point of view.

Calm my anxious and racing Spirit,

As I take a break in all I do.

So that You may bless and calm me,

And bless my life as I serve You V.M.
