What is in my Home? Read Isaiah 39:1-8

by Cheery Blossom(25)

Isaiah 30:4 Then said he, (Isaiah) What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered All that is in mine house have they seen; there is nothing among my treasures that I have not showed them. KJV

Do we learn from the lessons God tries to teach us, or not? Hezekiah had been “sick unto death.” Isaiah came with a message from God, and told him that God had said to get his house in order, because he was going to die and not live.
Hezekiah prayed and wept, and God sent a message through Isaiah, that He had heard Hezekiah’s prayer, and seen his tears, and God would add 15 years to his life, and would defend and deliver Judah from the Assyrians. God even sealed the promise, by sending the sun back 10 degrees, just as He told Hezekiah that He would.
When he was healed, he praised God, but that didn’t last very long. He accepted a gift from the wicked Babylonian king, and showed them everything ht owned, things that he called precious.—silver and gold, spices, precious ointment, and all his armor. He was so proud of his possessions.
Isaiah asked him what they had seen, and he told him that he’d shown them all of his treasures. Yet, he had never mentioned how God had saved his life, or all that God had supplied for him. Isaiah then told him that the Babylonians would carry off all of his possessions, and even his sons would become their captives.
Hezekiah had the opportunity to witness of God’s grace, but instead all he could think of was his treasures, even though God had been the source of all of these things. At that point, Hezekiah had drifted so far from God that he didn’t even plead for his sons. He was only glad that this would all happen after his life was over.
Hezekiah had a perfect opportunity to exalt his God, but he failed miserably!
What do men see when they come to our homes? Are we so proud of what we have that we forget all of God’s blessings and take pride in what God has provided? We can take no pride in these things. We are only the clay, and God is the potter. “Things” are provided only by Him. The only thing that we can claim is our relationship with our heavenly Father.    We can be critical of Hezekiah, but when people come to our home---
What do people see in my house? Do they see my Savior?
Dear Lord, I pray that I will humble be,
Dedicated fully to love for Thee;
Making sure, each one who enters my home,

Knows I rely on God’s Word, the precious tome

Verna this is another good one - I am so glad that there are word minimums here, challenging us all to go into even more detail! Marijo
