Awesome Temple

by Cheery Blossom(25)

Psalms 139:12 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: Marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

I Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

I Corinthians 6:19 What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? Verse 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Did you ever stop to really ponder on the automation of the human body? All of the vital parts of your body run automatically without any effort of your own. Think about it. Your heart beats constantly whether you are awake or asleep. In each 24 hours, your heart beats approximately 103, 680 times, without even a thought on your part. Your blood circulates in 23 seconds, and travels 168 million miles.

We breath automatically, we digest food automatically, Our body has its own cooling system. It generates 98.6 degrees of heat and 450 tons of energy. You use 750 muscles, your hair grows l/100 of an inch, and your nails 1/200 of an inch (in a 24 hour period) You will use 7 million brain cells. There are many more such statistics, but the important thing is, God made our bodies, and it is He that keeps things going.

What are we doing with this temple of God? It is the perfect machine for the expression of the soul. We take care of our cars, changing oil, keeping it clean, and having tune-ups. My concern is the abuse that many people do to the body. God has even placed within our bodies, healing mechanisms. He has made it capable of recovery from much of man’s abuse, but what a perfect mechanism for the very presence of God to dwell.

Yes, we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Never forget, we are made in the image of God, and that whether the body continues to work lies totally in His hand and ours. We are the only one who can cause the body to fail. Man was the crowning achievement of God’s creation.

Let’s keep our temples clean for the Master’s use. What a wonderful Creator!

Prayer-Thank you Lord, for a body that is beyond our understanding, and yet, it is Your gift to us. You have given Your Word to lead us in the ways that our body was intended to be used. Lord, may we keep our bodies holy, that you may fulfill your perfect plan, through us. Amen
