A Royal Priesthood - Unbelievable! Nevertheless, Believe It

by Teresa (1,506) Bronze Star
Freelance writer/Speaker

" But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of the darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy " 1 Peter 2:9-10

Ever feel like a failure? You work so hard to make sure everything runs smoothly and still everything falls apart - falling in so many different directions, you have reached as far as you can - your rubberband hands have snapped and have come flying back so fast, the pain of whiplash hits you in the face and you fall - well I have.

So how do we pick ourselves up?

For starters read 1 Peter 2:9-10 again. And again....And again. Grab your dictionary - refamiliarize yourself with the words " Special " , " Royal', and " Chosen " .

Now what do you see?

Share your thoughts - sing praises to our God and King!

Hi Lorrie,

Thank you for the encouragement. I thought I had so much to say, I spent 45 min starting and stopping. I was thinking about all that is going on in my life...or rather that is not going on and this passage just spoke to my heart.

Suddenly I realized, I wasn't supposed to say much of anything. Sometimes we can get in the way of what God would say to each person simply by reading His word. As you know, this was a new approach for me - one that I would have never thought of on my one.  Hahahahaha - now I have lots to say :-)  Love you!

Oh, how dark was that darkness! Groping around in ignorance, separated from my Creator who loves me with an unfathomable and unending love. Chained to sin with no way out and no hope. But then, when I cried out to God, He was there! His mercy given to me, a wretched sinner and enemy of God. The love of God came shining in and my life has never been the same since.

Growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord, I've become aware of this relationship that I now have with God, through Jesus Christ. Through the cross, I have peace with God. But, it is so much more than just reconciliation! He has called me His child, His own special people destined for glory. A chosen and royal family of God is what we are now in Christ, right with Him by His grace alone, through faith in Jesus alone. Not by works, but oh how the fruit abounds when the branch is connected to the tree and the tree is being watered by the Word of God daily.

Thank you Jesus for what you have done for us. Come quickly Lord and establish your Kingdom forever.

God promises never to leave us or forsake us and He keep His promises.  I love being his child and an heir to all that is His.  Sometimes we just have to be still and know that HE is God.  Come quickly, Lord Jesus!!!

Love you girl,

Cathy
