Thoughts on Numbers 33:52-56

Numbers 33:52-56 (New King James Version)
52 then you shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, destroy all their engraved stones, destroy all their molded images, and demolish all their high places; 53 you shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land and dwell in it, for I have given you the land to possess. 54 And you shall divide the land by lot as an inheritance among your families; to the larger you shall give a larger inheritance, and to the smaller you shall give a smaller inheritance; there everyone’s inheritance shall be whatever falls to him by lot. You shall inherit according to the tribes of your fathers. 55 But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you, then it shall be that those whom you let remain shall be irritants in your eyes and thorns in your sides, and they shall harass you in the land where you dwell. 56 Moreover it shall be that I will do to you as I thought to do to them.’”
You take (drive) out the “garbage”, let in the Lord Jesus, recognizing those things which cause us to stumble. Ask the Lord and “dispossess it” in the Name of Jesus.
Verse 55 we must drive them out. For example selfishness; love of SELF more than God is an enemy inroad. Drive out those things which rob us of our joy.
Claim this promise that the Lord has given us in His Word:
Joshua 1:3-5 (New King James Version)
3 Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. 4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory. 5 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.
We need to be active in Jesus and His Word. He has given us scriptures, promises, direction, armor, weapons and we need to step up and use what he has paid a terrible, terrible price to make ours!
Prayer: Precious Lord Jesus, do not allow us to read your Word and have it “go in one eye and out the other” but help us to be bold, to put action behind our good intentions and to appropriate what is already ours through you and your sacrifice. AMEN

Amen Marijo, this passage of Scripture has many valuable lessons we can learn and apply to our lives. If we cling to what the Lord has clearly shown us what we should let go of, then we our walk and witness will be hindered. We should settle for being people who struggle through the day, but should be solid and confident in the Strength and Obedience of God. Well done.Respond to this comment

Well said. We need to drive out the hittites in our own lives - the things we hold onto and let remain in our lives instead of being pure and holy. If we do not purify ourselves, we stand in judgment for the things we should not have held onto. God forgive us.Respond to this comment
