Psalm 31:19 (New King James Version)

¹⁹ Oh, how great is Your goodness, which You have laid up for those who fear You,
Which You have prepared for those who trust in You in the presence of the sons of men!

Have boldness, take refuge in Jesus before the sons of men. Fear, revere and worship – do not elevate SELF but flow in real worship. Worship isn’t just “a good idea” or a “have to”. “Laid up” = a stockpile – ready reserve, wrought or created especially for us.

Psalm 23 (New King James Version)

Psalm 23

¹ The LORD is my shepherd;
         I shall not want.
² He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
         He leads me beside the still waters.
³ He restores my soul;
         He leads me in the paths of righteousness
         For His name’s sake.
⁴ Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
         I will fear no evil;
         For You are with me;
         Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
⁵ You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
         You anoint my head with oil;
         My cup runs over.
⁶ Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
         All the days of my life;
         And I will dwell in the house of the LORD
         Forever.

The table is prepared before us – enemies are eating with enemies at the Lord’s table. We are to lift up and pray for our enemies. The footnote says that the oil is the run-off from us to others.

Our Lord Jesus has so many incredible plans for us, even plans for reconciliation with our enemies, plans to make us a blessing to them and all to put the glory spotlight right on Jesus where it belongs.

His ways are not our natural inclination. It we do open our ears His ways will be heard and surprise and liberate us!

Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank you for a better way and a higher road. Thank you for showing us the narrow path and taking us off the wide and crooked highways of our lives. Thank you that you care enough to have a plan and a future for us, will take us by the hand and lead. Thanks also that your Holy Spirit is the most incredible teacher. Please give us “ears to hear and eyes to see” each and every day that you have planned for us. In your most capable name, Jesus, AMEN
