Did you ever notice the beauty of the evening hours? As the sun begins to set, . gorgeous shades of yellows, oranges, and reds, light up the sky, producing an awesome beauty that is never quite the same, but each has a beauty all of its own.
When we are young, there is a constant desire to press forward towards some goal. If only we were only a certain age. We look forward to when we can drive, when we can date, when we can get married, owning a home, our first child, brothers and sisters for that first child, and yes, we even look forward to when we can retire.
This is the time of life when our true colors began to show. Many people seem to become disgruntled, and seem to have no goal in life. Life becomes a boring routine. It only takes a year or two to accomplish all of the things that we thought we would be so glad to do, if we just could retire.
Now it is true, as we age, strength begins to wane, unexpected aches anpop up most anywhere, but this is the time of life when we have the very highest goal to fill our life with joy and expectation. That is, if we have followed the path that was so carefully laid out by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
There is so much of such great importance jumping out of the wonderful pages of God’s Word. Don’t miss it! Ecclesiastes 12:1 states”-Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw high, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them .“ There are many such verses that are the true foundation of our lives
I view the lives of people who took no thought of the Scriptures in their youth, and I observe the unrest and seemingly futileness of their lives, and then I observe the life of my 90 year old Sunday School teacher, who is filled with the anticipation of the greatest opportunity of her life, to spend eternity with Christ. She is radiant like the sunset in the evening hours of her life. I am not quite that elderly, but I share the anticipation of the beauty that lies ahead. Why? Simply because of the blessings of God’s Word, and the Holy Spirit that dwells in my life.
Be ready to enjoy the anticipation, and surity of the sunset in your life!
It’s almost time for the sunset, to meet its final rest.
Be assured if you know Christ, this will be the very best!
