Scripture Is Personal

by Cheery Blossom(37)

The impressive thing about God’s Word is the fact that each of us may obtain a special personal message that may not be the message that someone else receives. I believe that it has to do with our own Spiritual growth and our special needs at the time that we are studying the Word.

Let’s look at Psalms 144:1-3, and I will attempt to explain my thoughts.

1. Blessed be the Lord my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:

2. My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.

3. Lord, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! Or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!

I realize that this is taken to refer directly to David, and all the problems that he encountered, and the way that God helped him to overcome the people who were against him. My personal take on this scripture today is an encouragement to me against many temptations. There is the temptation to despair, to feel insignificant, to carry resentment, and the list could go on and on.

This scripture aptly points out that God gives us the strength to stand, the buffer to face problems in our own lives, and that we are important to God. If God be for us, who can be against us?

David speaks of God as his shield, which draws to mind the armor which God has provided for us to put on before facing each new day.

Ephesians chapter 6 gives us a full explanation of this armor. David struggled with wars and injustices. We are warned that we struggle against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness of this world, and against spiritual wickedness in high places. We are given the pieces of armor that compared with David’s armor when he went to battle.

1. Loins girded about with truth

2. Breastplate of righteousness

3. Feet shod with the Gospel of Peace

4. The shield of Faith

5. Helmet of salvation

6. Sword of the Spirit (Word of God

We need to focus on putting on our armor every day. It has been provided for us by our Savior, by his birth, death, burial, and resurrection.

If our focus is on putting on this armor every day, I do not believe that Satan can touch us. It is only as we let down, that the war seems greater than we! If we truly wear our armor, the forces of evil will be subdued.

The real encouragement comes when we read the final verse of Psalms 144. Happy is that people, that in such case, yea happy is that people, whose God is the Lord.

Let us be over comers. We are assured that we can be.

An over comer, Lord, I would be.

Help me more fully to trust in Thee,

Never forgetting one piece of armor,

Make my heart, just a little warmer.

Guide my to live in your truth each day;

And from your side, never ever, stray.

Prayer:

In the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, I come to You Lord. I am trusting in your mighty Power! Help me to dress completely in your armor each day, and to defeat the devil’s darts. Amen

Amen Vera, Some of my favorite passages here. Psalm 18 to me is one of the most powerful Psalms that teach me and remind me that I have all that I need to be victorious in this life. Thank you for this word. Nice to have read it first thing in the morning. Blessings to you, Teresa
