Miracle in the Mud

by Marijo Phelps(199) Red Star

Velvet jewel growing

Through garden dirt

Pushing up, sunward

Surrounded by that which nourishes

Yet appears as common mud

Drawn by the light

Soon to break forth

In resplendent bloom

Of soft purple petals

Giving joy to beholders

As your fragranced flowery self

Stretches out to worship

Our resurrected Lord

He is risen!

He is risen indeed!

Written reflection on the beauty of the garden flowers that comes out of mud and dirt. Yet that is where they get their nourishment while they are growing towards the Sonlight. The mud doesn't spoil them but gives them s ustenance. And my thoughts went to our Lord, buried away in the tomb, possibly in a muddy hillside. I was thinking about how He burst forth in God's perfect timing, from death into resurrected life.

Jesus paid that price of an awful death on the cross for you and for me. Resurrection Sunday is more than a calendar marked holiday. It is the celebration of the day and the act of incredible love that can set each and every one of us free for eternity. Have you been resurrected into new life? Have you asked for the greatest gift ever given? If not, what better time than today?

Just felt that elbow and sent it to a brother-in-law who is having major surgery on heart Monday - last time he had to go off the med he is off now his heart stopped and he almost didn't revive. I asked him if he had asked forgiveness and for Jesus to be his Lord and Savior - told him there is no greater gift and the freedom is incredible and there is no better day than today...pray with me that he receives and acts upon this? Thanks!
