Has It Been Too Long?

by Marijo Phelps(179) Red Star

My child, it had been so long since you have come away to really rest in my arms and be renewed.

Is there a need? Do you see/sense emptiness?

Do you hear me not, though I am ever present? Listen.

Be still and know that I am God.

Be still and know the great I AM.

Come away my beloved and selah. (Pause and think calmly)

Is the Lord Jesus whispering to your heart? He only pursues you because he loves you so. He is not shaking a stick at you nor wanting to punish you. Punishing ourselves is something we do well enough on our own by not seeking Him, not taking time to “be still and know that He is God.” But there is hope, there is choice and there is JOY to be had in His presence even yet today!

Psalms 46:10 encourages us to be still and know that He is God. It goes on to say I (God) will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

There are places where this is still happening. Is your home one of those places? It can be, beginning today, right now with you!

In Exodus 15:26 the Bible says if you listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all is decrees, I (God) will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord who heals you.

What a wonderful promise we have just in that one verse. How can we listen carefully to God’s voice? Read His Word, pray, LISTEN in the quiet place, hear what he has to say from those in authority over you, those who “cover” you and listen to what he is laying on your heart lining it up with His Word.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to learn (again) to be still and listen to You; all knowledge, wisdom of the ages, all love. I am sometimes empty and you are Fullness personified! AMEN

God, did I approach this title with a husband's gusto only to be severely slapped down by your very first sentence; the second sentence had me drawn to the LIGHT, a moth to a withering flame, where my wings were badly singed.

I should have guessed when I saw your name that I was going to be held under deep baptismal waters and needed to hold my breath.

Ah, Paul, good to see you on this site and hoping you are doing better and adjusting to that new medication you mentioned. Just seeing you commenting again must mean that something is better?

Thanks Jose, Mother's Day was good in church and peaceful at home - Mick and I took a drive and looked for new baby elk calves (so far they either aren't born or hiding - we saw 70 elk!

"Punishing ourselves is something we do well enough on our own by not seeking Him, not taking time to “be still and know that He is God.”

This is such a profound statement! Isn't it true that we are the ones who punish ourselves. We are the ones who forget to humble ourselves, and turn to the only one who knows all things, and all solutions! As usual, words of wisdom. Thank you Marijo.
