A Change in the Weather

Luke 12:55, 56 And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, there will be heat; and it cometh to pass. Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?
Jesus was teaching the multitudes and often used object lessons to help them understand. God set this world up so perfect, that if people are alert, there are many signs that can be understood. Jesus was trying to awaken Spiritual discernment.
With all of the prophesy of Jesus birth, which even stated where He was to be born; there were few that understood the day in which they were living. It was an opportunity to walk with Jesus, who was every bit God, and every bit man.
The star that shone over Bethlehem should have awakened more than just the wise men. They seemed to be the only ones who discerned that the special star indicated that the King of the earth, the very Son of God, had been born. Jesus was saying, “How could you not discern “this” time?”
The Pharisees, and actual teachers of the laws had the scripture that prophesied Jesus birth, but they still did not connect it with their day.
I wonder how many things we could discern if we spent enough time in the Scriptures. It seems that there is so much there, and so much uncaring among Christians. May God awaken our hearts to the “signs of the times” that He has provided for us to profit there by. Let’s not criticize the people of Jesus’ day, but allow Him to open our eyes to the many truths that He has provided for us.
I pray for a “change in the weather” for all of us who claim the name of Christ.
So many things seem so important
As the weather, when it’s a dim day.
It’s time we awaken to the plans of God
And let our Jesus have His Way.
