Discussion Questions John 5:18-30: Jesus is Equal with God the Father

by Teresa(1,657) Bronze Star

Jesus made bold statements about his identity in John 5:18-30. As briefly mentioned in the summary, there are many who claim this to be a lie. How would you respond to skeptics on this issue? Do you believe this truth because you have been taught to believe, or have you researched it for yourself? How many passages of Scripture can you provide to others that reinforce Jesus' claim?

Our focus for this discussion will be on related passages that further reveal his character and abilities. Some of you may already be familiar with these. Nevertheless, it does us well to bring these passages to the forefront of our mind. It may be that God will reveal something new to each of us.

If you haven't read the summary, please do so here.

CHALLENGE

Read John chapters one through five. Review all of the discussion questions and noted passages thus far. How have these answered your questions and deepened your faith? Write a summary of the Gospel using this information.

As always, there is much more to glean. Some of this information may have raised more questions; praise the Lord! Write them down, ask the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart and lead you to passages that will help answer them. I encourage you to share those questions or any insight here with us.
