Context: Romans 7&8
Romans 8:5
"Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live according to the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires!"
Romans 8:7
"The sinful mind is HOSTILE to God, it does not submit to God's law nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God."
INSIGHT:
The Spirit's control yields fruit of righteousness if allowed in my life. The sinful mind is reign-free and care-free. It is not convicted or convinced by the Holy spirit and does not wish to conform to it. It is haughty and rebellious to righteousness and God's control and sovereignty.
Submission is, while having the right to govern one's own destiny or destination, he/she negates the right to their selfish ambitions or ways, and yields their members-along with their mind-to the Holy Spirit's control and practice in their lives. We must first be BORN AGAIN of the SPIRIT for him to have the right and control to 'give us of His Spirit' more and more each day.
DOES YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS LOOK LIKE THIS??
SUBMISSION: yield to governance/authority to subject to a condition, treatment, or operation; to permit oneself to be subjected to something; to defer to or consent to abide by the opinion or authority of another.
SYN: 'YIELD': to give or render as fitting, rightfully owed, or required.
to give up possession of a claim or demand
to give up (as one's breath) and so die
to surrender or relinquish to the physical control of another
give up and cease resistance or contention
submit to urging, persuasion, or entreaty
to give place or precedence.
HOSTILE: of or relating to an enemy
OPENLY opposed or resisting
Hostile to new ideas (new wineskin)
intimidation, antagonistic, offensive
I am referring to GETHSEMANE. This word GETHSEMANE means 'crushed'-as an olive was crushed in the press to so release it's oil. Submission starts in our yieldedness to Jesus and His Spirit He has given us. If we resist his will for our lives, even in the small things we call 'beatitudes', then all we have is a broken measuring cup, scales that can't balance, and an white washed tomb of dead religion. We can't measure or compare ourselves to Jesus when we do so without comparing ourselves to his standards. We can't 'balance' our lives with our own scales while neglecting to perceive His righteous judgements.
Awaken to His voice. He wants you to be yielded and submitted so that you can obey him in everything.
