Trusting Jesus With Our Praises Devotional (Word from the Lord Series)

by Marijo Phelps(180) Red Star

You read Exodus for a purpose. I desire praise and worship. They always murmured and complained even in the midst of my miracles. Take heed to trust me with your praises always.

James 2:23

23And the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness, "and he was called God's friend". (NIV)

Isaiah 41:8

8 "But you, O Israel, my servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, you descendants of Abraham my friend. (NIV)

Psalm 47:6

Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises. (NIV)

Prayer: Lord God, it is a most high honor to be called "a friend of God". Help us to give you, freely, our praises and worship. Help us to remember to enter your gates with thanksgiving and into your courts with praise. You alone are worthy of our praises and adoration. AMEN

No doubt about praiseing God. He alone is worthy. The manner of praise is a personal matter, I believe. What do you think?

I have a most wonderful book about Praise - it gives I think 9 words in the Old Testament which are simply translated "praise" in English.... it is everything from laying on our faces before Him, to giving a loud shout, to giving a "wave" offering and I am not sure what that means, to extending our hands, to throwing our hands upwards in power, to extending our hand in adoration, to be "clean, shine, boast, show to rave, celebrate, to be clamorously foolish", to shout, to kneel, to touch strings (play instruments), to sing, and there are more (I obviously unearthed the book!) SO there are many and varied ways to praise our God.

Having said that, over the years, our Lord has led me into praise mathods which streatched me and I was somewhat uncomfortable with at first (like even raising my hands) Now I see it as surrender to Him who set this captive free and my hands just pop up before Him while singing and worshipping... imagine that, me who used to almost cringe at the thought or putting my hands up in church!
