Are You a Teeter-Totter Christian?

by Cheery Blossom(29)

The story is told of a little boy who fell out of bed in the middle of the night. His mother asked him, “Why did you fall out of bed?” The little boy’s reply was, “I guess that I just stayed too close to the getting in place.”

This innocent answer from a very small child , started the wheels in my head turning. I have often seen people who seem to have so many problems in their Christian life and seem to be on the top of the teeter-totter or on the very bottom, unable to handle the tests of life. I have wondered just why this seemed to be, and have longed to have an encouraging word for these people. Then, I began to look back at my own life, and realize that I, too was a teeter-totter Christian in the early years of my Christian walk. I seemed to feel that I needed to be at the altar in church nearly every week.

Now, I am thinking, what changed? Do I think that I am so stable that I don’t think that I need the Lord? (That is certainly not the case as I have Spiritual battles like everyone else.) But, there is one thing that I have learned. If I don’t want to be miserable, I need to take things to Jesus when they happen, search the Word, and find His answers for me. We need to become steeped in God’s Word and He will give us a peace and calm that is beyond description.

Becoming a Christian doesn’t give us all the answers in life, but the closer we walk with Him, the less tough the tough times seem to be. We cannot help but grow in Faith and Knowledge of Him, and that is what He requires of us.

Don’t stay too close to the “getting in place,” as important as that place is in your life. Study Gods Word daily, spend time with Him, and you will be amazed at the hunger He gives you for more of His Words, and the sweet assurance that He is walking with you through every trial. With this, you can be confident, and in spite of the trials or tests that all of we humans have, you can ride on the high side of the teeter-totter, and walk more confident in His love and grace.

I Timothy 3:15 Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth.

Love this and the truth of the quote :“I guess that I just stayed too close to the getting in place.” Sending you an e-hug and hoping those pies will suffice for a long time and no more baking (i remember Iowa heat!

I wish to express tahkns to the writer just for rescuing me from this crisis. As a result of surfing through the world wide web and coming across notions that were not productive, I thought my life was over. Living devoid of the solutions to the issues you've solved through the website is a critical case, and the kind which could have in a negative way damaged my entire career if I hadn't come across your web site. Your good knowledge and kindness in maneuvering the whole lot was priceless. I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't discovered such a thing like this. It's possible to at this moment look ahead to my future. Thanks a lot very much for your high quality and amazing guide. I won't hesitate to refer your web page to anybody who ought to have tips on this subject matter.

God bless you.  Stay on that bed!  Rest in the peace of Jesus.  Oh what a different life I have had since I got real with Him.  He is an integral part of my life,my greatest friend, and my husband is next in line.  We have both failed, but Praise God, He has lifted us up.  God was so precious during the sudden loss of our 18 year old boy in 1976.  He held us together, and has become so much more precious as the years have gone by.  Even though I don't know your name, I praise God that he used a feeble effort on my part to help you back to Him.  I am so humbled before Him.
