His Way is Best

by Christine Dawson

When we are in circumstances that confuse, frustrate or sadden us, the tendency is to try to "fix" things on our own. Oh yes, we might pray about it. But do we leave it there and let God handle it? We usually try to handle it ourselves. Here is when "Abiding in Him" comes in.

When we're in the midst of a situation, we must immediately go to the Lord in prayer about it. We shouldn't go talk to our best friend about it. We shouldn't worry and fret and cry around about it. We must go to the Lord FIRST. "Seek Ye FIRST the Kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matthew 6:33) God is the ONLY One who can make things right. He is the ONLY One who has the correct perspective on the situation. He is the ONLY One who knows the end from the beginning. He is the ONLY One who knows what to do. Why go to someone else for the answers?

It takes discipline. It takes a conscious effort to sit in the Presence of the Lord, spending time with Him, LISTENING to Him, talking with Him, reading His Word. Remember to PRAISE HIM in the midst of your circumstances because He inhabits the praises of His people, and He will show up in your circumstance. Praise Him before you even get the answer. That is yielding to Him. It is telling Him that we know HE is the ONLY One who has the answers, and that we trust Him to provide for us.

Then what do we do?

We wait.

Sometimes this is the hardest part. We may have to wait for days. We may have to wait for months. We may even have to wait for years.

But we wait.

God's timing is not ours. But HIS timing is the best.

He loves you! He's not out to torture you with waiting. HE knows when the best timing is. If He brings your answer too early, it may be incomplete. He knows when the perfect time is. He's never too late. But He often is not very early. We must wait on HIM. While we wait, we keep on praisiing Him. We keep on spending time in His Presence. We worship!

And then when the time is right....He will give you the answers. He'll either change your situation, or He'll change you. It doesn't matter....because we know that HE sees the end from the beginning....that HE knows what is best. Trust Him. Obey Him. There is no other way. Any other way we may try will only bring us grief and more frustration.

Chris! Well said. I have been guilty a time or two or three of going to my friend before going to my Lord. Thank you for this powerful reminder :-)
