Be the Best You Can Be!

Staying close to God through His Word inspires us to truly live instead of just existing!

Columnist“…the world knew Him not.” Let’s speak up! Be the best you can be! (Mt 5:48)
by Teresa O'Driscoll

It is some time since I last wrote as I have been busy settling in to my new Welsh home after repatriating from Greece. My small tranquil former coalmining village has returned to its naturally beautiful state. Walking out of my house and up beside the nearby river, usually with only sheep for company, my mind frequently turns to Psalm 23. “The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want; He makes me down to lie in pastures green. He leadeth me, the quiet waters by.” At this time of Advent though, as we prepare to celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ our Saviour, this psalm takes on a special significance, belonging, as it does, to the trilogy of psalms that foretell of His... Royal Wedding, Wales, and Manna from Heaven: Be the Best You Can Be! (Matt.5:48)
by Teresa O'Driscoll

With one week to go before my repatriation from Corfu back to Wales, I sat glued to the television in my apartment watching the Royal Wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton. A dear friend text me at that point asking how I was. I replied positively then asked: But am I in the eye of the storm? I knew that it was time for me to walk, pray and think. As I strolled along the deserted sandy beach I remembered Christ’s instructions in the Sermon on the Mount on the futility of worrying: “…do not worry about tomorrow; it will have enough worries... Wildflowers, Blueprints, and the Glory of God:Be the best you can be (Matt.5:48)
by Teresa O'Driscoll

Teresa has kindly invited me to contribute to this site and I am excited to be making this first post. Currently wintering on the Greek island of Corfu I have delighted in the profusion of wild flowers. These have brightened my walks since my arrival in January. Beside pathways the grass is dotted with delicate pinks, tall buttercups, snowy daisies, and iris-like sea orchids - to name but a few. I cannot resist making posies of them and the tables in my apartment are strewn with confetti-like fallen petals. The island is very green due to copious winter rains. These are sometimes swept in on strong winds which beat down the weakest of the flora. But in a day or two, against all... (read the rest of what Teresa O'Driscoll wrote.)
